Abortion -
The Bible is very clear on whether abortion is ever a moral option. In Psalm 139, David says the following

13 For You formed my inward parts, You covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.

In this passage we can see that God is involved in the creation of every human life. We are formed and wonderfully made in our mother's womb. God sees our worth because He knows what we will be like even before we are fully formed. Life begins at conception. At that point cells begin dividing and a human starts to take shape. Anything that someone does to destroy that growth is ending a life. In other words murder. Only God has the right to give life or take it away. The fetus is one of the stages of growth of a human being. Simply because a human can not feed himself does not mean they should be terminated. Even when there is the case of rape or incest it is not the "little ones" fault. My heart goes out to those involved in these horrible acts. This is where the church should step in and offer whatever support is necessary. That group of rapidly growing cells is a human life and it is not our right to take that life. If the mother's life is in jeopardy, the decision to end a life to save a life is a serious one and should be done with much prayer and seeking God's wisdom.

Body Piercings -
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us that we are not our own and that our bodies are to glorify God. Body piercings traditionally have been a pagan practice and not done by God's people. One thing we must ask ourselves in any change of our looks is, will this glorify God? Is this helpful for me?

Capital Punishment -
Romans 13:3-4 speaks of governments being God's ministers to enact justice on those that commit evil. Paul even mentioned at one point that he had done nothing worthy of death. There must be witnesses and proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that a life was taken. But if there is, capital punishment is Biblical and necessary. We are made in the image of God, and God does not take murder of one of His creations lightly.

Divorce -
I want to say from the start that God intended marriage to be between one man and one woman until death. However, God has made provisions for divorce because of man's sinfulness. There are only three legitimate reasons for a marriage to end and the other spouse free to re-marry:
   1. Death of a spouse, Romans 7:2
   2. Non-believer abandons a believer, 1 Corinthians 7:15. Abuse is a form of abandonment, but separation for a time should be the first step, trying to work it out in a safe manner before divorce is an option. See Proverbs 4:23 for instruction in protecting ones self.
   3. Sexual immorality of a spouse, Matthew 19:9.
One last note is that divorce, under circumstances 2 & 3, are allowed and not necessarily the best course of action. Divorce is always hurtful and ugly and it would always be best to try to work out the marriage than end it.

Earrings and Men -
Genesis 35:2-4 Earrings for men are associated with the worship of false gods. Jacob took the false gods and earrings and buried them, rather than use them.
Exodus 32:2-3 After leaving Egypt, the Israelite women and children had earrings, not the men.
Numbers 31:50-53 Earrings the Israelites had were from the spoils of war and even then they were given to Moses as an offering to be used for money or to be melted down and used for plating things with gold.
Judges 8:24-27 Gideon asks for the golden earrings that were taken from the Ishmaelites and made a golden article like the priests wore. God didn't honor that, but they also didn't wear the earrings.
Deuteronomy 22:5 This talks about women not wearing men's apparel and men not wearing women's apparel. Earrings in American culture have traditionally been considered women's apparel.
1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. Even if you don't associate  yourself with the Israelites, our culture does not have a high regard for men with earrings in places of business and leadership roles. Most business dress codes state it is not proper for men to wear earrings at the place of business because there is a stigma that goes along with it of rebellion, showing off and other inappropriate acitivities.

Homosexuality-
Genesis 1 and 2 tells us that God created a man and a woman, Adam
and Eve. They became the first married couple. Also in Genesis, we read
about how God completely destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19:28), in large part because of homosexual activities (Gen 19:5). When Jesus was questioned about marriage in Matthew 19:4-5, Jesus stated that marriage was
between one man and one woman. Another instance where God addresses the matter of homosexuality is Romans 1:27 stating that it is shameful.
My last point is that any sexual activity outside of a one man, one woman marriage is sexual immorality and a sin against Almighty God (Hebrews 13:4).

Origin of Life-    Genesis 2:7 tells us that God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. Life originated with God, not from a
mud puddle. Psalm 139:13 says that God is involved in forming each of us in our mother's womb.

Tattoos -
In Leviticus 19:28 you can read the following, " You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord." This is the Lord giving the Israelites, a code of conduct concerning how to treat their bodies. You might say, well that is the Old Testament, we are not under that anymore. We do now live in the age of grace and not the law, and tattoos are not mentioned in the New Testament. At this point we have to look at the reason we are getting a tattoo. Tattoos through the ages have been associated with sensuality and self promotion. Some might even say rebellion. Romans 12:2 says not to be conformed to this world. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says that as Christians, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are not our own. Tattooing is a form of self mutilation which God does not promote. There are some health considerations as well. Some people have gotten hepatitis while getting a tattoo.

I believe all of these should be used when considering a tattoo, but there is one more passage of scripture which is a guide for such situations and it is found in Galatians 6:7-8, sowing and reaping. If you sow to the flesh, the "Hey, look at me!" attitude you will reap corruption.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principlalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have preeminence. Colossians 1:16-18
